IDEATION TECHNIQUES

2D Vs 3D

Working fantastic in both 2D and 3D, some games translate perfectly and can be the key to unlocking innovation. Now, this can be easier said than done that’s for sure, however, with some imagination it’s possible to come up with some fresh new twists on successful 2D concepts and re-create them.

In our first example, a powerful way was to look at a successful 2D runner, Square Bird by Moonee, and imagine how that would work in a 3D environment and how this proven game mechanic could be elevated to something completely different.

In terms of themes and mechanic anything goes from old school spheres and cubes to characters and vehicles. The same can be said for Genre’s, this ideation technique works for almost any 2D game both portrait and landscape.
